About Us

History
Convened in 2004 by a public-private partnership that includes The Colorado Trust, the Colorado Department of Education, representatives of existing associations of school-based and school-linked programs, as well as key policymakers, the Colorado Afterschool Network (CAN) seeks to connect providers, policymakers and other stakeholders throughout Colorado into a force demonstrating that after school programs work and are a vital part of community life.

Vision, Mission & Goals
The Colorado AfterSchool Network envisions a future where youth learn, contribute and thrive by participating in quality out-of-school opportunities within Colorado communities.

To accomplish this vision, CAN will work with Colorado communities to connect and build systems, supports and resources for quality out-of-school learning opportunities.

Our goals are to:
  • Build public will and foster public support around the importance of out-of-school learning opportunities
  • Develop policy and/or influence policy regarding the systems, support and resources related to out-of-school learning opportunities
  • Promote quality out-of-school time programs through opportunities for professional development

The Colorado AfterSchool Network is an affiliate of The Partnership for Families and Children, which has over 10 years experience building the capacity of organizations in Colorado to better serve families and youth. We are dedicated to supporting after school programs across the state
